Nine Cakes opened its doors (minus actual doors) in the fall of 2008, getting an auspicious beginning selling mini cupcakes at the Brooklyn Indie Market and other New York City craft and foodie fairs.

It's been one big year since then: Nine Cakes made an appearance on the TODAY show (we were chosen to make the wedding cake for the 10th annual TODAY Throws a Wedding), turned up on Daily Candy not once but twice, and, most imporantly, clients and customers continue to give rave reviews to their friends, helping us grow into our second year!

Now, building on a reputation for consistently fantastic cakes, cupcakes, and desserts, Betsy Thorleifson, baker and owner of Nine Cakes, is happy to announce that we've got real doors in Red Hook, Brooklyn with the opening of our new shop. We'd love for you to come by and say hello, but for the time being, we're selling per order only. (You might get lucky, though, and get a sample).
